The Vice Chairman of Gia Lai province is urging progress on a series of key transportation projects.

For component project 1 of the Quy Nhon-Pleiku expressway project, the investor has handed over 5.2 km of land to the contractors for construction and authorized them to carry out procedures for applying for permits to exploit soil and sand mines under a special mechanism.

On March 14th, Mr. Nguyen Tu Cong Hoang, Vice Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People’s Committee, inspected the site of land clearance and construction progress of key transportation projects, including the Phu Cat Airport Runway No. 2 Project; Component 1 of the Quy Nhon – Pleiku Expressway Project; the Cat Tien – Diem Van Coastal Road Project; the Coastal Road Project from National Highway 1D to the new National Highway 19; and the Phu Cat West Road Project.
At the Phu Cat Airport Runway No. 2 Project, representatives from the Gia Lai Provincial Project Management Board for Transportation and Civil Works reported that within the land area under provincial management, 11 compensation plans have been approved for 245 households and 3 organizations, with a total budget of over 85.9 billion VND.
Compensation work within the runway and air safety zone has been largely completed, reaching 98.3%.
To date, the investor has handed over approximately 2,948 meters out of a total of 3,048 meters of runway length (corresponding to about 58 hectares) to the contractor for construction.
Regarding progress, contractors have completed approximately 1,200 meters of embankment for the K95 road, using about 2 million cubic meters of soil.
The Vice Chairman of Gia Lai province highly appreciated the efforts of the investor and contractors in implementing the project. At the same time, Mr. Hoang also requested the units to take advantage of favorable weather conditions to accelerate progress and ensure quality.
Regarding the two coastal road projects, according to the report from the Gia Lai Provincial Project Management Board for Transportation and Civil Works, the Coastal Road Project from National Highway 1D to the new National Highway 19 has completed 3 out of 3 bridges and 5 out of 7 large box culverts along the route; the units are continuing to construct the embankment with granular materials at the bridge and culvert abutments; and installing prefabricated components.
Some sections of the roadbed that meet the requirements have been unloaded and construction of the K98 subgrade has commenced. The project’s completion value to date has reached 67.8% of the contract value.
Meanwhile, at the Cat Tien – Diem Van section of the coastal road project, contractors have completed 9 out of 9 bridges and 45 out of 45 large box culverts along the route; they are currently deploying granular material and transition slabs at bridge and culvert locations.
The K98 roadbed has been constructed for 10.5 km out of a total of 13.5 km, with approximately 3 km remaining under ongoing monitoring and subsidence observation; 2.5 km of C19 asphalt concrete has been laid. The project’s completion value has reached 82.37% of the contract value.
Mr. Nguyen Tu Cong Hoang, Vice Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People’s Committee, highly appreciated the investor’s attention to monitoring and observing subsidence at necessary locations to promptly address issues and ensure the quality of the roadbed for the two coastal road projects.
Mr. Hoang noted that both sections of the coastal road pass through low-lying areas and cross the river’s course, so in addition to ensuring flood drainage during the rainy season, the quality of the roadbed needs special attention.
In addition, the Vice Chairman of Gia Lai province also requested the investor to closely check the construction quality of each item, ensuring that when completed and put into operation, the project will have a long lifespan.
